Tesla Enables Direct Integration with Popular Connected Car App DIMO
The first automaker to officially support open mobility platforms.
In a significant move for the connected mobility space, Tesla has enabled a direct integration with DIMO, the popular connected car app that allows users to connect any car to an open and decentralized network, control their data, and automatically earn rewards for doing so.
Tesla drivers can earn as much as $15/month in rewards just for being connected. DIMO is free to use and also enables you to track the location of all of your cars including non-Teslas in one app.
Many automakers struggle with issues of security, privacy, and openness. Yet Tesla continues to lead the way by officially supporting robust connections with open mobility platforms.
Tesla drivers will now be able to seamlessly manage their connection to DIMO via their Tesla app or infotainment system and continue earning rewards for simply having their vehicle connected to the network.
For Tesla drivers, this collaboration brings several benefits, including:
Earning as much as $15/month in rewards just for being connected;
New fine-grained permission control;
Access additional commands within the DIMO app (such as opening doors, unlocking the trunk, etc.);
Advanced widgets for better car health tracking.
This signifies a major step forward, as it marks the beginning of automakers like Tesla opening up their codebases for integration with third-party car platforms like DIMO.
As an industry leader, it’s no surprise that Tesla is the first to embrace direct data integration, and there is optimism that more automakers will soon follow suit.
DIMO integration with Tesla specifically makes sense too — with more than 109,000 cars connected to the DIMO platform, 20,000 of which are Teslas, this collaboration is an exciting step in what the company says promises to be a long-term partnership with Tesla to further improve and innovate the driving experience.
The DIMO drivers use the platform’s marketplace for everything from refinancing their vehicles, getting a real-time valuation for the car, to getting rewards through insurance partners and when scheduling services.
If you own a Tesla, you can connect it to DIMO in a few minutes by downloading the app. You can use our code “9PINF2” to get 50 DIMO tokens when you connect your car.
DIMO has so far 1,697 unique car models across the network and any car from 2008 or newer can join the ecosystem easily.
